Let me ask you something: When was the last time you felt truly in control of your career?
If you’re like most people, the answer might be, “I’m not sure.” Life has a way of throwing curveballs, and sometimes it feels like we’re just along for the ride. But you don’t have to settle – not in your career, not in your life, not in anything.
Today, I want to remind you of a few absolutes. These truths have guided me and can guide you, too. These are the principles I come back to when I’m feeling stuck, uncertain, or tempted to settle for less than I deserve.
I hope they’ll inspire you to take control of your career and your life.
It’s easy to feel trapped in a career that doesn’t fulfill you. But here’s the thing – you always have options. Maybe it’s a new role, a new industry, or even starting your own business. Maybe it’s going back to school, learning a new skill, or taking a leap of faith into the unknown.
The key is to remember that you’re not stuck. Even when it feels like there’s no way out, there’s always a path forward. You just have to look for it—and be willing to take the first step.
What’s one option you haven’t considered yet because it feels too risky or uncertain?
This one is non-negotiable. No matter what you’re going through—whether you’re thriving or struggling, confident or scared—Jesus is with you. He’s not going anywhere.
When I feel overwhelmed or unsure, I remind myself of this truth. It gives me the courage to take risks, make bold decisions, and trust that I’m never alone.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV)
Here’s the thing about career decisions: It’s not only logic nor strategy that gets you through. It’s about listening to that still, small voice inside you—the Holy Spirit.
When faced with a tough choice, take a moment to pray, then listen. Ask for guidance. Pay attention to the nudges, the peace, or the clarity that comes. The Holy Spirit knows the path ahead, and He’ll guide you if you let Him.
What’s one decision you’re struggling with right now? Have you taken it to God in prayer?
